The Luniaq project, conceived by XTEND DESIGN under the leadership of space architect Tomáš Rousek, presents an innovative vision for lunar exploration. Drawing inspiration from Škoda’s automotive design, the project introduces a conceptual lunar rover and a visionary lunar base named „New Prague,“ showcasing the potential for human habitation and mobility on the Moon.
Leveraging Virtuplex’s expansive VR capabilities, the Luniaq project was brought to life within Europe’s largest virtual reality space. This immersive environment allowed for a full-scale, interactive experience of the lunar base and rover, enabling detailed examination and real-time collaboration among designers, engineers, and stakeholders. The VR simulation provided critical insights into the spatial dynamics and functionality of the proposed lunar habitats and vehicles, facilitating refinements that enhance feasibility and user experience.
Virtuplex’s technology played a pivotal role in the development of the Luniaq project, offering a platform for comprehensive visualization and iterative design. By simulating the lunar environment and proposed infrastructure, Virtuplex enabled XTEND DESIGN to explore innovative solutions and optimize designs in a risk-free, virtual setting. This approach not only streamlined the design process but also provided a compelling medium to communicate the project’s vision to potential collaborators and the public, underscoring the transformative potential of virtual reality in space exploration initiatives.
